Zoove engaged Mediamark Research Inc. (MRI) to conduct an independent study among mobile phone users to determine their opinion of the StarStar service from Zoove.
MRI conducted over 600 in-person interviews and mobile direct response tests to determine the relative effectiveness of StarStar versus SMS common shortcode direct response. Research highlights include:
- » StarStar numbers were perceived as simpler and easier to use than SMS shortcode calling.
- » Nearly twice as many people responded to a printed call to action successfully via StarStar numbers versus SMS direct response.
- » Over half of the respondents would use StarStar numbers once a week or more.

StarStar Pricing & Services
StarStar annual term leases start at $1,950/month for branded words. The length and scarcity of your StarStar number (from 2-12 digits) determines the lease rate as there is more scarcity and interest in shorter numbers.
Standard leases work without geographic limitation across the U.S. and right now include “all you can eat” call activity – meaning your business can drive 1,000 calls or 100,000 calls a month for the same price.*
Note that certain generic terms are priced separately (for example, **PIZZA) and not covered under the 2012 StarStar Rate Card, and are available by special order only. An account representative can help you with specific pricing for the number or numbers you want.
Services
After securing your StarStar number, getting up and running is simple with our online tools and account support services. For most customers, it can take as little as 10 days from lease to launch, if not shorter.
On-boarding assistance. From day one an account manager is available to you to make your campaigns shine, armed with best practices we’ve collected across advertising mediums and mobile experiences. We also offer custom audio scripting and recording, or can work with your own voice-over talent to deliver a stellar audio greeting.
Carrier review and approval. A unique advantage of StarStar is that we manage the campaign approval process with U.S. carriers for you, ensuring that all carrier and industry best practices and matters of compliance are met and there are no issues in content delivery.
Self-service tools. You get full access to a self-service portal to manage your StarStar campaigns and monitor performance in near real time. We provide all the tools you need to define and schedule campaigns for your StarStar numbers via our easy-to-use web interface. Define customized audio messages and text responses, enter mobile URL destination, and more.
Professional services. For clients that need more assistance, we also offer creative and marketing services, mobile site development and hosting, support for complex targeting behaviors, and other services needed to create your desired end-to-end mobile experience.
Location-based campaigns. We are currently piloting location-based services for select customers and campaigns, in anticipation of launching full geo-targeting and location reporting services for all qualifying customers in 2012. If you have interest in location-based services, your representative will be happy to speak with you about opportunities to use these services in advance of our planned full roll-out.
StarStar API. For certain customers who have more sophisticated technical needs and capabilities, we offer access to our StarStar API, which offers robust real-time services for building custom, complex mobile content delivery applications.
Reporting and analytics. Your StarStar dashboard allows you to monitor the success of your campaign in near real-time. Track activity, device stats and content delivered here, and measure your campaign’s overall ROI. We also offer detailed geographic heat maps call-to-click analysis, and more detailed insights for select clients – inquire with an account representative about supporting your needs for more advanced insights and reporting.
