Every December brings hundreds (thousands?) of year-end lists to the internet and I offer a few of my favorites here for you.

What will the world be like in 2012?

The folks at Slideshare have curated 12 presentations that attempt to answer that question. These diverse presentations cover a wide range of topics, including Global Themes; Social Media; Digital Innovations; Consumer Trends; Nonprofit Marketing; Healthcare Marketing; Mobile Web and HTML5, and more. They promise check back at the end of the year to see which of these predictions have come true.

From the New York Times, this list covers pretty much everything New Yorkers and the rest of the nation talked about this year. From the serious (#28. A hearty farewell to bin Laden, Qadaffi and Kim Jong-il) to the inane (#42. Blake Lively and Leo DiCaprio, #43. Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, #44. Ryan Gosling’s abs), and some Things that only have relevance to New Yorkers (#45. The heat wave in July. The hurricane in August. The blizzard in October. Mother Nature must be awfully angry about something), this list deserves a quick read as we say goodbye to 2011.
